This really will revolutionize the way you perform your close up magic, no lie there. The "stand up magic" concept is incredible. I have used it around eight times the past week or so, I really can tell you, this works!
The ad copy claims:More Attention From You Spectators. Louder Applause. Better Reactions. A Standing Ovation At Every Performance! This small adjustment/concept really does do all this. In my opinion, if you buy one DVD this year (or lifetime), let it be this!
The DVD teaches some effects/routines, but it is mainly about the concept. The concept is explained in great detail and you get great advice on how and when to use it. I really liked the section which gave the advantages/disadvantages. It was really honest and he gave reasons why you wouldn't want to use it, which would definitely help as well. This concept is best suited to strolling performers at restaurants or corporate events that have tables with groups of people.
Tom teaches some nice routines that work well with the concept. This material is really, really good. He teaches a nice chop-cup routine which is presented as a game-show, with the usual production of a lemon/lime at the end. The routine is totally customizable and you can pick and choose which parts you like. He also teaches a really nice bottle production, which in an attempt to produce a second bottle, you produce your shoe accidentally. In the live performances, you could really see how well this plays in the real world. The real gem on the routines section, in my opinion, was Tom's card to mouth routine. I really loved this because nearly every single "card to mouth" effect requires the deck to be placed into the mouth, which kinda hints the method. This requires no palming or placing the deck (or your hand) in your mouth. This is a routine I am already performing on a regular basis. Tom also teaches his ring on rope routine as a bonus, which was very good also.
This is a two DVD set, the first disc had live performances and studio performances, and the second disc had the explanation of the concept and routine explanations.
Overall, although the routines were great, the real gem of the DVD is the "stand up magic" concept. $50 may seem a bit pricey for a DVD, but the tips you will get after using this concept, will probably cover that $50 in the first performance. I really believe that. Super highly recommended. 10/10
