This is SansMind's version of the popular coin bite effect. In this variation, you borrow a spectator's coin, change it into a chocolate coin, bite it, spit it back and restore it back to the original state. The coin can be signed and borrowed and can be used in any currency.
The gimmick you get really can be used in any currency. I am from Australia and hardly any coin gaffs can be used with our currency. But this gimmick matches perfectly in size and shade with our 10c piece. You get a basic coin bite gimmick except painted a chocolate colour. The gaff is solid, well made and feels very professional. You also receive supplies in case your gimmick breaks.
The DVD is hosted by Herman and everything is covered well. The routine is taught slowly and in detail. The only let down is there were no bonus or extra variations/routines. They also don't cover how to actually bring in the gimmick during the performance. The DVD is about 10-15 minutes long and is produced well.
One issue I had was the foil you get in the DVD to wrap the gimmick with didn't fit the gimmick you were given. On the DVD, however, it showed the foil perfectly covering the gaff. They suggest some DST which worked as a substitute.
This suits my performance style well. My main performance area is the school cafeteria or at youth group where there is food everywhere. Everyone has change with them and a chocolate coin isn't an odd object around here. My style when I perform is short, sweet (excuse the pun) and visual. I adore visual magic so this works very well in my repertoire.
Overall, this is a beautiful piece of magic. Well made, well taught and really, really clever. Does it give meaning to the coin bite effect? I don't know. The truth is, the coin bite and Chocolate Coin are two completely different effects. Chocolate Coin is great.
