Thru is a visual phone through bill effect from Daniel Bryan and Mystique Factory. You visually pass your phone through a borrowed bill, then rip it back out and give the bill back completely unharmed.
The DVD isn't very well produced. The lighting kept changing and the sound was kind of iffy at times. The person teaching on the DVD covers Thru well, but sometimes you just couldn't hear him very well. This isn't Theory11 video quality folks.
The method to this effect is basically Melt by Matthew Johnson, except applied to a smartphone. I have performed Melt for the longest time and when I saw this, I was hoping for a new method but no, it is the same concept. The person on the video teaching the effect even covers a card through bill effect which is exactly the same as Matthew's download. I liked the idea of applying this concept to this phone, but this definitely shouldn't have been brought out as a DVD more than three times the price of Matthew Johnson's download.
The gimmick has to made by you, it isn't too hard to make and you can kept it in your wallet and apply it to your phone when needed. The routine is good, but the handling taught is just awkward and your movements are very restricted. I think that with a bit of thought, you can adjust the routine to make it far more natural and open.
I wish I could say more about this effect but really the bottom line is this - this trick IS Melt by Matthew Johnson, except with a phone. If you know Melt, you know Thru. I appreciate the idea but I think this just isn't original enough to be released as a $35 one trick DVD. Just my honest opinion. Hardly impressed. 2/10
