Jeff Prace is hands down one of my favourite magic creators and a recent friend of mine. He gave an incredible lecture at Murphy's At The Table series. A great amount of material was covered in the lecture, a few of which I will highlight here:
Strawesome - this was great. A drink visually changes inside a straw, that simple. This completely fried me when I first saw it. It requires a quick set up before performing but you can stay set up for ages until you are ready to perform. There are no gimmicks, and as soon as the change is executed, you are completely clean and everything can be examined!
Orbit - this is a refilling pack of gum from Jeff's first release with Kzomo entitled "Gum". The gimmick is very simple to make (slightly time consuming) and they run through the construction in it's entirety in the lecture. It is very easy to execute and I enjoyed this because Jeff performed this effect for David Copperfield on live TV!
Earfun - this was an incredible version of the classic "stiff rope" with earphones. The earphone cord remains suspended and does not fall when the performer lets go of one end. The gimmick is simple and takes a few minutes to construct. The earphones will not work in one earbud but it is a great thing to have in your pocket.
No More Card Tricks - the deck of cards immediately wraps itself in electrical tape. The gimmicked deck is super simple and is very, very easy to perform.
Overall, this was a great lecture, as usual with At The Table lectures. So many other great effects were taught apart from the ones I have highlighted. Mike Hankins is a great host and keeps everything organised yet entertaining. Great lecture and great material. 9/10
