Impression is an interesting effect which uses a signed, blank card and a spectator's phone. Here is my summary of the effect:
A blank card is signed by the spectator and a photo is taken of them holding it. Then a second spectator selects and remembers a card. The ink on the card then vanishes, and then when they check the photo on their phone, the photo is instead of the first spectator holding the second spectator's selection, with their signature on it as well.
The method for this effect is genius! The gimmick supplied will last forever with due care and is very durable. A slight set up is required for the trick, however nothing too major. When you do this effect, you give away the signed blank card. You are supplied with around 10 blank cards so if you plan on permanently putting this into your show, you will need to purchase more cards.
The DVD is very well produced and Jason You teaches everything you need to know to perform the effect.
Two problems I had with this project:
First, there is a move you have to do whilst taking the photo. This isn't shown on the trailer. It isn't a big deal but you will want to practice so you can get it as smooth and natural as possible. Also no-one can be in front of the signed card while the photo is being taken. I found the trailer slightly dishonest, although I understand the editing protects the secret.
Second, on the latest iOS update, your clean up for the effect doesn't leave you clean as there are still "traces" of your work in their photo library. So be careful there.
I think this is a great routine. I honestly do. I loved the concept and I think I will be using this. As a student. everyone has phones so this will fit in really well. The final photo will probably be shared on social media by the spectator which gives you free advertisement! If you can get past the two issues I outlined before and like the effect, I doubt you will be disappointed by this project. 9/10
