I had high hopes for this one. I really did. I love moving ink effects but often they don't have great methods. The one behind this one, is completely obvious!
The gimmick that creates the effect is so visible. Without giving too much away, you can see something on either sides of the ink and when you flick the card, their gone. That telegraphs in the spectator's mind that there was something there before that isn't now. I really hoped that I was just being fussy so I tried it out. Every time, someone asked me what that line was, or pointed out the two lines. The gimmick although clever, just will not hide when people are looking at it. It is strong and will last, but it is just obvious.
The DVD has sound and lighting issues. It didn't look very professional at all, unlike other WorldMagicShop releases. They do teach how to make new gimmicks in case your one breaks. The routine is gone over, not taught in the greatest detail. Not impressed.
I also question the logic behind the routine. You have to write super small on the millimetre thick border around the playing card. It just seems illogical and quite ridiculous.
Overall, I know this is a short review but the truth is that there isn't much to say. The gimmick is visible, spectators see it, you see it, terrible DVD production quality and not great teaching. Also, it is nearly $40 for something that just won't work. I don't often do negative reviews but this was just terrible. Sorry, it really is. 2/10
