Casshan Wallace delivered an awesome lecture in the At The Table series. Well known for his visual effects and creative methods, he didn't fail to impress in this download. He covered around 15 different effects, each different and pretty *** awesome. Each effect used everyday items, such as gum, earphones, playing cards, money etc.
He taught an awesome colour change where a playing card card visually changes in your shirt pocket. Reminiscent of Pocket by SansMinds, yet totally ungimmicked. The method is so simple and really easy to do. I have already started using this, it is great! It's visual, no gimmicks and you end clean.
An ambitious gum routine was taught where a stick of gum that is sticking out visually rises through the packet, through all the other sticks. Simple in method and looks great. This fooled me badly.
Casshan's balancing gum effect was brilliant. Reminiscent of Vertigo by Rick Lax, the stick of gum balances on the box, then the box balances on the gum. The method is simple and takes very little time to construct. I made one up and have it in my school bag, because it is just a natural thing to carry gum with you, and when you perform magic with it, it kills. Trust me, I have learnt that from experience.
Another effect was where a dollar bill is dropped and it turns into a packet of gum. This looks so good! I actually reminded a few times before I chose to watch the method, just so I could try figure it out. The gimmick is actually pretty complex, but with the correct supplies, you shouldn't have a hard time building. This was a visual gem, great for video, and could work really well in person too.
He also had a section using b**** a**. He taught two effects using the concept - a levitation/torn and restored card and a broken and visually restored earphones. These effects aren't particularly great for live performances, however they are crazy on stage or video. I really enjoyed his thoughts and take on this classic concept.
So many more effects were taught but those were just a few that I loved. Casshan's lecture was great and I got a lot of effects that I will use out of it. Greg Wilson was a great host as usual, jamming on the material given and always making things entertaining with his one liners. For less than $8, this is a steal! Loved it! 10/10
