Capsoul is 3 effects using your everyday cap. I was very excited about this for two reasons:
1. I am a card guy
2. I wear caps
I thought this would mix in so well with my performing style and would make my routines seem so much more organic. I was let down.
Flick Change: this is the effect most heavily shown on the demo. You throw a card into your hat and it changes. It can also be used as an appearing card. The method uses one thing everyone has around the house and a cap. It takes about 20 seconds to set up your hat. You can have your hat set up all day and no-one would be the wiser. The change is a little knack at first, as your REALLY are catching the card in your cap. This is actually really clever and workable. I performed this on Friday night at youth group for a crowd of about 40 people and it absolutely killed! In my opinion, this is the only good thing on the DVD. 8/10
Trapped:
This is a card stab using a cap (a cap stab if you will?). This uses the exact same principle as the Flick Change and if you know how that works, you can figure this out. The problem with this and all other card stabs and grabs is that the cards fall all over the floor and you have to pick them up and it gets really awkward sometimes. That is the reason I don't perform Shin Lim's ShiNAG anymore. This routine is a very basic use of the Flick Change principle. 6/10
iTap:
Now this is what disappointed me the most. I LOVED the look of this. The set up, however, is extremely extensive and takes a while to set up and move between hats. It is awkward to operate and you also need a reasonable excuse to walk up to them with a card sticking out of your sideways cap. I don't wear my cap sideways so this doesn't work for me. I was just upset that this was really that impractical. 2.5/10
The DVD itself is well taught and produced. It says DVD and Gimmick but the "gimmick" is extra cards you may need to perform the routine. This is way overpriced for $35 and I may use the Flick Change in the future but that is it. 6/10
*If you are only interested in the Flick Change (the standout of the DVD in my opinion) I suggest checking out the Flick Change download which is only $10 and is far better value. Dealers should contact Murphy's Magic for this product. Here is the link for information for Flick Change download: http://www.murphysmagic.com/Streaming/Product.aspx?id=54100
