Another great At The Table lecture! Caleb Wiles is an underground card magician with some incredible routines and ideas to share. A warning, this lecture is entirely card magic which some people may not like. However, I personally loved it. There were some great routines taught, here are a few:
iDeck - this was one of the most entertaining card tricks I have ever seen! He uses the premise of a deck of cards that is electronic, which explains how different magic effects are accomplished. For example, he couldn't find the card, so he pressed "F1 for help" on the deck and the card appeared. The cool thing was that he performed many classic magic effects using the "iDeck" premise, which I really enjoyed (Ambitious Card, etc.) Also, the routine is fully customisable so you can add and take away what you want, make it longer or shorter and even come up with your own phases.
Spin the Wheel and Make a Deal - my favourite from the lecture. This is based on the Deal or No Deal TV series. A card is selected, signed and lost into the deck. The cards are spread out and the spectator places the mini-briefcase onto one card and not only is that their card, but the card is written on the bottom of the case. As the finale, the card is shuffled into the deck and the briefcase is opened. Inside, folded and paper clipped, is their selected, signed card! I hope that description made sense, but this is an incredible routine. Not too difficult or demanding, yet this has maximum impact. I really enjoyed the methodology behind this, plus it is super practical and suitable for close-up and strolling. This, in my opinion, was worth the price of the lecture, easily.
Make a Wish - this was just a cute and short routine to perform for someone's birthday. Candles drawn on the back of a signed card, get blown out, leaving permanently printed burnt out candles on their card, which makes a great giveaway.
Overall, this was a great lecture with a ton of usable material. Mike, as usual, did a great job hosting the lecture. If you are a card magician, you will really appreciate this lecture. Great material at a great price. 9/10
